Not Ideal for Me, 23 Jan 2010

As a total beginner I very quickly got stuck and ordered other books. We all have different ways of learning and I have not found a single book that is tailored to my needs. I will go back to this book when I have progressed more. To anyone else with the same problems, I suggest getting some free sheet music online and get a sense of achievemnt by playing single note tunes such as hot cross buns and Mary had a little lamb, it helps with motivation. I found that once I could play a tune using fingers from both hands (but not at the same time)I was ready to try a chord or two. I use the single note music to get my fingers moving and then follow with chords. At the end of the day, it takes practise and fun.

vastly superior to any of the “For Dummies” books, 25 July 2011

having tried and failed with several different titles from the Dummies range, i decided to give my keyboard training one last shot and got this. Ideal! very simple to follow guidelines, no silly tech talk, well balanced fingering excercises throughout, and a gradual absorption rate for information. Illustrated in three different ways – staves, keys and fingers – throughout. also it is a ring bound volume and sits nicely on the music stand of my keyboard. only quibble is it is a bit small so i need 3x magnifying glasses to read it from keyboard sitting position. but otherwise perfect.

This book has been very helpful to my 6 year old grandaughter. It is by far easier to understand another we tried. Would recommend.
